Wishlist ~ ASOS sale!

The ASOS sale has begun, and it is as always massive. I spent far too many hours browsing and there are now far too many things I want. So here's just a selection from my very large 'Saved Items' section on my ASOS account. Whilst I'm at it, I going to mention Fashion Perks as a good place to go for discount codes for places like ASOS, New Look and Boohoo - it's kind of nice having a site where all of those sorts of offers are in one place, especially since I don't get newsletters from all of them (no one needs constant tempation like that).

Top Row:
ASOS floral spiked headband ~ £5.00 (£10.00)

Bottom Row:
ASOS long sleeve crop top ~ £7 (was £10)
ASOS striped skinny jeans ~ £24.50 (was £35)

Unfortunately both the Monster crop top and the long sleeve crop top have sold out but I'm still keeping an eye on them in case some one returns something (I know, sad). I know the striped jeans trend is basically dead but I still love how they look, so I may treat myself. I've also been looking for a floral spiked headband for ages but I guess at the moment I'd only be able to wear it with wigs, since I don't think that kind of style works with short hair like mine is now.
Have you spotted anything amazing in the ASOS sale? Let me know!

Outfit of the day ~ Pixie secretary.

Chiffon blouse, vest top, skirt ~ Primark
Cat eye necklace ~ Katze Shop

Did not realise how Primark heavy this outfit is, but I love both the blouse and the skirt (which I wear pretty much constantly). The cat eye necklace I got from the Plastic Fantastic event at Porta and I really like it - wouldn't have picked it out myself but I wear it loads now I have it and I think it adds a nice edge to an otherwise potentially overly sweet outfit. I'm still getting used to my new hair - not sure if it suits me but I'm getting a load of compliments about it which is really nice.
As always, sorry I haven't posted in ages, I am genuinely feeling awful about not posting as often as I would like - turns out finishing two plays and this year of university did not mean life slowed down as much as I had hoped. I'm still rehearsing for another show, about to start rehearsing for yet another that I auditioned for last week (which I'm super excited about) called Vita and Virginia, practising for a few music gigs coming up and a bunch of other small things that add up to a pretty damn busy schedule. I've had no time for make up which makes me a bit sad but hopefully that will change soon - I haven't even tried my new Illamasqua lipsticks yet, which is pretty criminal. However, busy isn't all bad, I've done a tonne of fun stuff, including doing a bit of extra work in a film, playing an Elizabethian whore and the shows have been amazing as well. Plus, there's a lot of stuff to look forward to as well, like going to a book festival that the boyfriend's sister-in-law organises every year.

New Hair ~ Anne Hathaway Wannabe.

Or alternative title: From Short to Shorter!
If you follow Good Morning Angel regularly, for my last hair cut I got a graduated bob, this time I decided I wanted to go for a properly short, pixie style hair cut, for a couple of reasons. Firstly because I haven't had a pixie cut in a while and I wanted one and since my hair was already vaguely short it made sense. Secondly because I'm Mole in a local production of Wind in the Willows that I am currently doing, and I felt like short hair would be more appropriate for his/her character. Thirdly, now it's this short all the hair that was previously dyed is definitely gone which means I can start dying it again! Hurray! I'm thinking, pastel blue?
I decided to go for Anne Hathaway's hair when it started to grow out after Les Miserables (like this). I'm not really sure how I feel about it yet, I am a little worried my older cut might have suited me more, but maybe it's just initial cut jitters. As always, had it done at Toni & Guy as a model for the trainees (costing me only £10), bless him my trainee was very bunged up from hay fever and wilting a little by the end of it, so even though I could have gone shorter at the front, when he said he liked that length I thought I'd leave it.

Style Inspiration ~ Bloggers, part 1.

Well hey there! Look! I'm still alive! There has been a clear lack of posting, I know. This is due to a combination of reasons that include exams, rehearsing three plays simultaneously and the boyfriend having to organise two end of year exhibitions for his uni degree, which means obviously no beautiful photos. I do however have Photoshop back on my laptop which means I can do some stuff and since I have a little bit of time I thought I would share with you some of my favourite fashion (and in later editions make up) bloggers. These will come in a few parts since I have a lot of bloggers I love. The main idea is that even though I follow a lot of fashion bloggers I don't always take inspiration from them - I like their looks but I wouldn't want to apply them to myself. However, these beautiful ladies who I am about to feature give me serious wardrobe envy and/or having a style I wish I could pull off.
You'll notice that styles I like vary widely but hopefully you might discover a new blogger you'll love as well! Don't forget to follow me so that you catch the next of this series when it comes out!

Not only is this lady only 17, with the most gorgeous willowy figure but she dresses perfectly. Always floaty chiffon and elegant shapes. I love how she can hop with ease between the pastels and the more gothic looks and I wish I could rock thigh highs and bustiers as well as she can.

One of my go to bloggers for cute, Japanese inspired outfits. This girl technically counts as make up plus wig inspiration as well. Her creepy cute styling is impeccable and there are few things that I like more than her star shaped eyebrows. I wish I could style a wig like she can.

Amy is basically glamour meets grunge. Another young'un who always rocks the Jeff Campbells like they're no big deal. She also causes me to have a major case of hair envy with her long dusty heather locks. Plus can we also just discuss the ridiculous, super model legs she's got going on?

I like Sara's style for the same reason I like Mink Pink clothing - they both embody this sort of bohemian, slightly grunge look that I am crazy for! She looks so effortlessly cool in anything and has certainly turned me around on the subject of clog shoes.

Eccentric, whimsical, vintage, ethereal - just a few words to describe these two's amazing style. I wish I had the guts to dedicate myself to this sort of look and be able to pull it off as well as they do. I also love their combination of genuine vintage items with high streets brands, who knew Primark could look so classy?

Special mentions also go to: A Go Go for her gorgeousness and beautiful photos and Kayla for a super thrifty but super unique style.

Current Wishlist ~ Missguided!

Title says it all. I accidentally ventured onto the site the other day and now I have got a long lust list of items I want from Missguided.co.uk. I basically need a new summer wardrobe. This is a quick and easy post since I am currently deep in revision (as well as doing shows every night - hurray for busy lifestyles!). I will be free on the 13th and then I won't have to think about university until October. Oh summer, I cannot wait for you to be upon me (oh, cheeky!). Let me know if there's anything on Missguided you're currently lusting after!

Top Row
I mentioned these before in my mass suspender leggings post and I think I definitely want a pair! I love that the tops are separate from the bottom so you can mix and match thigh highs. I'm a bit apprehensive about the wet look, but I think it's a risk I'm willing to take.

I think we all need to stop for a moment and appreciate how amazing this is. I am a fan of the pentragram/cage trend go around but I was not expecting to find it on Missguided! I mean, it is pretty pricey but still, so so gorgeous. There's also a shorter version which I might want even more, but I love the waist detailing on this as well.

I'm a fan of crop tops at the moment, and even more of long sleeved ones. Even though I like the plain one, I  also like the simple but interesting variation in this one.

Bottom row
I've been looking for a lilac something to add to my wardrobe. I love the pastel goth look but am lacking in the pastel part. Also on the look out for an oversize lilac jumper.

I highly doubt this would suit me but come on, this is such a cool idea! Or maybe I have just become a sucker for anything with 'suspender' in the title.

And I mentioned these in my Witch Inspiration post a while ago but I can't get them out of my head! They are so perfect! Maybe they can be a birthday present to myself...it's in August, that's soon enough, right?

Review & Swatches ~ Concrete Minerals Matte Eye Shadow.

concrete minerals pro matte eyeshadow eye shadow loose powder hifi thrash ravage ember rocked revolver
Currently I have a big thing for bright, vibrant, matte eye shadows. My go to brand for this is Sugarpill and their pressed eye shadows, but they are fairly pricey. When I came across Concrete Minerals pro matte eye shadows my first thought was that some of the shades looked like really good dupes (e.g. Risque and Sugarpill's Love +). Luckily they do a blogger's pack, so I ordered four shades for a discounted price. I expressly chose colours that weren't similar to ones from Sugarpill that I already owned.

Packaging: each 2.5g of product comes in a little pot, with a sifter. The lid has the company logo and the underside has the name of the shadow, the list of ingredients as well some other info. My order came in a plastic bag, wrapped in pink tissue paper and with two free samples also in little bags.

Price: normally each full size pot cost £5.31 ($8.00) compared to Sugarpill, which is £7.96 ($12.00) for 4g. This makes Concrete Minerals £2.12/g (price per gram) compared to Sugarpill, which is £1.99/g. In the end the price difference isn't that much (surprisingly) so the choice between companies should mainly be based on your preference between pressed or loose eye shadow or a particular shade. The P&P was also really reasonable.

Formula: This is actually my first foray into loose matte shadows, like I mentioned, I usually go for pressed, so I haven't got much to compare to. I found they were easy to blend (although less so with a primer, naturally), and the pigmentation varied between colours, Thrash being the best and Ravage being the worst, although using a primer solved that problem anyway. When I wore them I found they all stained to various degrees, especially Ember.  I found that some of the colours had varying (but tiny) amounts of glitter, which are hardly noticeable, although more so with Thrash, I gather this is to do with being able to blend them more easily. I also wore them without primer or any make up and found they all turned out much better on my lid than on my arm, maybe due to the natural oils on my skin and there was no creasing. Fade happened after a few hours. I only found Ravage to be a little disappointing, but I would definitely be able to wear the others without a primer.
In the end, there isn't much bad to say about this product.

Summary:
  • price per gram comparable to Sugarpill
  • pigmentation varied but was good overall, no problems with primer
  • wear time also good, with little to no creasing
  • some staining after wear
  • all of my chosen colours are vegan and 100% cruelty free
  • ingredients include no preservatives, skin irritants or fillers

Swatches: Each photo of the colour includes a swatch with primer (left) and without (right). I used MUA's professional eye primer.
A soft, matte purple, edging on the side of pastel.
Like I mentioned, the most disappointing in terms of pigmentation.

 A matte, bright fuchsia.
There is something about fuchsia that I really love at the moment, and this did not disappoint.

A matte, mossy, forest green.
Such a pretty, muted colour. Definitely less 'bright' than the others.

A matte, vibrant orange.
For whatever reason this is much brighter in real life than the swatches make it seem. A really good, bright orange, borderline neon.

All together: Ravage, Thrash, Hi-Fi and Ember

These are two free samples, from their normal mineral eye shadows range. I was sent:
Rocked ~ a shimmering, creamy beige
and
